💛 World Wisdom Well #3 💛
✨ Know thyself. ✨
The allure of linearity lies in its apparent simplicity and predictability. We are drawn to the idea that progress follows a straight path, with each step building logically upon the last. It's a comforting notion, offering a sense of order in a seemingly chaotic world. However, this allure can blind us to the true nature of evolution, which is far from linear. The reality is that life, in all its forms, unfolds in ways that defy simple explanations. It's a complex tapestry woven with threads of randomness, adaptation, and emergence..

Along the way, we must take a walk with ourselves. As we quell the surrounding noise, we can explore an essential place. Carl Jung has said, "Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.......who looks inside, awakes". When we create the space for such listening, we invite the light of truth to speak to us. There is so much that is swirling these days. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the demands of the day. The messages of our heart can become a faint whisper that drifts beyond reach.
When we quietly turn our attention to a relationship with ourselves, we can hear what matters. As Rumi said, "There is a voice that doesn't use words, listen". We all get lost in our minds, overthinking the choices we need to make. As I sit with others in therapy, I hear them saying, "I don't know". My translation is, "You are afraid to let yourself know". When I knock at this door, it opens readily with clarity. As long as we keep ourselves confused or uncertain, we delay feeling the pain or joy which lives in our heart.
Many of us are relentlessly busy. While we complain that we want to get off the gerbil wheel, we continue to look for ways to climb back on. We know what awaits us when we pause. The sneak preview of challenging feelings has revealed itself before. We may simply be frightened to touch them again. Grief is one of those emotions that we prefer not to feel. In our efforts to run, we empower it with a terror it does not have. When we release our resistance, we can soften our heart by allowing it to breathe out.
There is an ease of being which arises in the moments we are aligned with our truth. The willingness to surrender to knowing it cultivates a wise heart. It is in silence that old whispers become a strong voice. This necessitates naming and claiming what we know. We often turn to others asking, "What should I know?" While they may hold a mirror up to what we have not wanted to see, we can also go to our heart and find it. We can stop straddling the light and shadow when we embolden our courage to discover it for ourselves. Let us walk with a gentle curiosity.
